An attempt at a ceramic spiral structure.
Want to get a nice ceramic knock. The biggest mistake made in the making of this piece was not thinking through how to fire it.I only punched very small holes in the ceramic with an iron rod because I only thought of running fishing line through it. As a result, it wasn't until the plain firing was done and it was time to glaze that I remembered that I wanted the whole thing glazed and there was no way to leave a ground contact surface. So sought help, but found that the wire biscuits used to hang the firing baa had a way to go through the small holes I had left. So in the end it had to be fired on a rack, which is a good consequence of having sticky bits. And once that part was removed, it had to be sanded with metal sandpaper, which is an extremely difficult thing to do, and once again I felt like I was going to grow muscles because of the sanding.
