“Most corrugated cardboard boxes are constructed from three or five layers ofunbleached pulped recycled paperboard, with every other layer being flutedcorrugated) to give thickness, lightness, structure and impact resistance. Theare wholly derived from plants: wood fibres for the layers of brown paper whiclare glued together using starch from tubers, seeds and roots such as potatoeswheat, rice and tapioca.
Cardboard boxes are usually secondary in importance to their contents, yetbeautifulin material and design, My work using cardboard boxes is as much aboutthe raw constituents as the forms and volumes of the boxes themselves, ancan exercise in both construction and deconstruction intended to give primary function and value to the material.”
In this exhibition, I saw more possibilities and methods of making cardboard boxes and the plasticity of this material, which I have seen more often than not in the form of inserts to transform cardboard boxes.
