This work is very sad to talk about. Because both parts of my teapot were broken by accident after glazing and firing.
But about the making of this look is also new to me. Usually people make this kind of would be by using pulling the embryo, but since I haven't learnt this skill yet, I pondered to go ahead and put it together with clay pieces. At the same time I wanted the shape to be special, I wanted it to be a gradation of triangles and circles. So I need to cut out some trapezoidal pieces of clay and glue them together to form them first, and then shape the quilted circles after they have dried and firmed up a bit.
Then I also attempted to carve some texture into the surface, but it turned out that because I had used underglaze colours to paint the pattern and a thicker transparent glaze, the carving almost disappeared after the final firing was completed. However, the two pieces that were glazed directly on the surface obviously retained the carving better, especially when the glaze was of different colours in different degrees of thickness, which obviously allowed for a better interpretation of the texture of the surface of the object.
I also love the feel of the water waves at the end of the little wave etchings on the outside of the little saucer.
