A lamp, a girl or a friend?
Make such a small lamp on the table, you can dress her like you dress yourself, give her earrings (also the function of receiving your own earrings), and accompany yourself every day.
I made some new material attempts for this lamp.
(Unfortunately this part of the record wasn't captured because I forgot to switch on the camera)
Firstly for the lamp base part, I came up with the idea of making homemade clay from delivery cartons. Firstly, the pulp are a little bit torn, and then soaked in water for a whole day, after soaking the paper in the hand twisted even worse because I do not have a mixer can only be used by hand. Then the water will be filtered dry extrusion, leaving only the pulp has been soft and rotten. Then add flour, white latex and some salt for preservation to the pulp and proceed to knead, this is where the usual cooking and kneading skills come in handy hahaha.Knead the pulp until it has a texture that can be balled up into a ball, at which point you can begin to shape it. Unfortunately, my modelling skills weren't good enough, so the final pinched figure didn't come out very nice.
The lampshade part I started with parametric modelling and wanted to finish it with 3D printing. However, after communicating with the technician, I learnt that the open structure with too many holes was not suitable for 3D printing, so I had no choice but to consider other ways.
Then I considered ceramics again, but it seemed like there was some time running out. Finally I went and bought air drying clay. But it was really, really hard to use and failed numerous times while I was making it.At first I tried direct moulding first, but it was too soft to set at all before drying. Then I attempted to make a base frame with wire first and then add clay, still, numerous failures. I can't remember how I finally managed to barely set the shape, but the whole thing was a disaster site, my hands, my workbench, everywhere was sticky clay or powdered clay after it had dried. The final shade wasn't quite what I had in mind, and it cracked easily. So much so that I ended up having to sew them back together with a needle and thread, although the sewn part ended up being part of my work.
The good thing is that the end result is kind of what I wanted, with separate holes for small and big holes to let in light, and also to hang my earrings nicely.I also ended up trying to put the previously folded paper lampshade on it and it worked out pretty well too haha.
To sum it up, it's really a lamp that took a lot of physical effort and many failures before it was finally finished.
