These are some attempts at origami lampshades.I experimented with different paper materials and different folding methods, wanting to explore different lights and shadows.
The problem with some of these attempts was the choice of paper, as the folds I wanted were so numerous and dense that I needed to keep creasing the paper in different directions all the time, which meant that the paper needed to be very tough and resistant to splitting. However, as I started with acid paper, by the time I had finished pressing the creases and was folding the lampshade, very many of the creases had torn to varying degrees, so it ended up looking a bit torn.
Then I used another paper, which also let in light, but which was obviously even less suitable because it was so soft that it couldn't even make a good crease, which meant that it wasn't possible to fold the lampshade in a regular fashion. Even if it did, the shade would be very unstable and would not stand up well.
Still, it's a pleasant surprise to see the rhythm between the soft beauty of the light filtering through the paper and the sharp regular and direct folds.
