Since the last butterfly didn't quite strike the balance I wanted, I decided to make a second attempt.
This time instead of using cardboard I used all plastic bottles and plastic boxes as material, to see if it would be better with the change in material and weight, as well as to experiment with smaller models first. The clever thing about the plastic box is that it can be nicely cut out in the shape of butterfly wings, and its own undulation also makes the wings look more three-dimensional.
The end result is that probably because of the lack of weight of the wings, and overall because it's just a small model, it doesn't create a big swing when pulling on the wings, which leads to a faster swinging frequency.
The clear plastic makes it look shiny in the sunlight though, and it's also capable of wonderful light and shadows.
