175 WOOD BENDING

Learn about heat bending wood. Used ash. longer will be placed in a steamer trunk and heated for roughly 10 minutes, taking care to use one where the grain is in a vertical direction. The shorter ones can be wrapped in a damp towel and put in the microwave for maybe one to two minutes. Remove the heated strip of wood and place it in a mould made of iron ruler to assist in bending. Then set the shape. Different curved wood shapes can be created using this method.
